I am a science fiction writer who recently wrote and published my very first novel. I thought others might find this process interesting, so I started this blog to capture my experiences, successes, and failures, as well as a few posts about Science Fiction topics that interest me. I’m not posting regularly to this blog anymore, but I do a monthly newsletter that may interest you. You can sign up for that here.
So who am I? I’m an old guy, no real writing experience. I have a bachelor’s and a master’s in engineering, and have worked for over thirty years in the defense industry. I recently took an early (semi-)retirement, and decided to focus on the novel I’ve been thinking about for several years. But it started way before that. I’ve been reading science fiction for as long as I can remember, great authors like Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Niven, and Pohl, more recently Vinge, Stephenson, and Reynolds. So I wrote the kind of novel I’ve always wanted to read, with a reluctant hero, a variety of planets, a new way of getting there, and aliens as way beyond us as we are to insects. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I’m learning a lot about independent publishing and marketing. Come along as I take this new journey!
