Welcome to my blog!

What’s this all about?

I started this blog to share the journey of writing and publishing my first sci-fi novel, Star Riders, as well as what I’m learning about self-publishing and marketing.  Occasionally, I give you my thoughts on science fiction in general.

So who am I? I’m a fifty-something engineer who has been reading science fiction probably since I learned to read, and always wanted to write it. I wrote a post about my favorite novels, but for now, let’s just say Larry Niven’s Ringworld and The Mote in God’s Eye were two of the books that most intrigued me. After reading just about everything my hometown’s little public library had on the science fiction rack, I continued to search for books like those, and that led me to try to write the kind of book I always had wanted to read. And I’m pleased to say that my novel, Star Riders, can now be found in that little library in Lewiston, NY.

This particular novel has been kicking around in my head for a few years, starting with just an idea about how to get around the speed-of-light problems, and then developing into an actual story. I don’t want to get into spoilers here, so I’ll try to avoid saying too much about the story itself.

I self-published it on Amazon on June 30, 2018, and it’s been very well-received.  I’m working on a sequel now, and you’ll probably find a few posts about that.  Please peruse the list of blog posts to see if anything piques your interest, and feel free to leave me a comment.

Thanks for visiting!
